did you try reloading inetd/xinetd yet? If you don't know how to do
that, simply rebooting will work as well. I havn't played witrh Redhat
in a long time, I'm a gentoo user for linux, use suse for some of my
clients workstations. by default telnet is disabled on most distros
due to it's highly insecure nature. however correct knowlage of your
system and setup will allow you to minimize security problems..
