I answered my own question and would like to know what y'all think.

Granted there are many reasons I am quite confident we all here are
well aware of for why people cyberchat/message regardless of their
ability to hear/speak which seems to be the ONLY way many prefer- but
I do think the main overall reason for engaging in cyber communication
is very simple. :)

We need to, we want to, we enjoy- communicating
