Could well be! My Japanese is 'phonetic' filterd from a southern accent.
The ¨area has 80%Japanese and 20% 'gosh, USA or married to it'. My best
friend is ¨german and her english is just getting usable (married to a US
Navy person). ¨She's got me scratching my head to remember English names
for stuff that she ¨sees in the stores locally. Heck if i know what
'KangKoon' is in english! ¨There's another green she loves and found out
in town thats kinda like a very ¨strong kale. I forget what she calls it
but the japanese storew owner now adds ¨that to the kanji label since he at
least has something else to call it. ;-)

Would Gindai become gintai? Easily here.

hehe she would! That horrid 'fluffy stuff' isnt fit to feed pigs much less ¨humans.
