Wish I could've seen it. :-( The UPN affiliate in my area (northeast Ohio, Cleveland area) pre-empted the last 35-40 minutes of the show to provide information to the absolute farthest fringe of its viewing area on a possible tornado. Now, if I was in that area further South, and the storm was THAT bad, I sure as hell wouldn't have been watching TV. It wouldn't have bothered me as much as it did, except that there was VERY little information to report and the same guy kept repeating it ad nauseum. In fact, after the first 3 minutes, the guy even asked someone in the studio "Oh, are we staying on?".... That, & the fact that the danger warning (or is it watch? I can never keep those straight..) would be over by 10 pm. Gee, really prompt & useful there guys... Also, there was never any funnel cloud sighted ANYWHERE. So....instead of simply placing a "ticker" at the bottom of the screen w/ updates, they wasted over a 1/2 hour (away from the scheduled show) on one guy playing w/ a computer pointer, with absolutely NO NEW information one either the storm or when or if the show would return or have an encore showing at a later date (usually late night/early morning on Sat. for those w. VCR's). At 10 pm, the regular news came on,(again w/ no mention or apology for the pre-emption) and immediately went back to the same guy, who spent 3 minutes repeating the exact same thing he said for the past 40. Grrrrr. Resposible newscasting is one thing, but that was simply overkill. Sorry gang for the rant, but ugh. Oh well, guess I'll just pick up the recap on Velocity..... --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Swills (1:229/3000.1) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 229/3000 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
