-=> Quoting David Durgee to David Hartung <=-
DD> In a message dated 12-27-97, David Hartung said to Justin Baustert:
DH> Sure they do, if the consumer doesn't like Win95, there is OS2 or
DH> Macintosh. By definition, these folks are competitors of Microsoft.
DD> Correct to a degree. Where the problem comes in is the restraint of
DD> trade practiced by Microsoft in their requirements for developers to
DD> receive information necessary to write to their environment. They
DD> require the developer to agree not to release the same or equivalent
DD> package under other environments(OS/2, Macintosh, Unix) for a period of
DD> years after the release of the windows version. As consumers tend to
DD> buy applications as opposed to operating systems they are stuck.
The bottom line is still that there is not a monopoly in operating
systems, or in applications. In my opinion, the Justice Department is
in the wrong.
