I saw a lady once who would always pull the network cable from the ADSL
router when she left the room. I didn't make a number of it (tried very
hard not to embarrass her, she's a nice person if a little uninformed on
things), but I think her idea was that she didn't want the computer to be
doing anything while she didn't see it.

...not that I'm recommending that as an efficient method for safe surfing,
just thought I'd mention it.
