Dear ZyXEL customers, Vienna, 08/20/97
A few days ago ZyXEL released the new firmware versions
for the "Omni TA128" (v2.05) ISDN terminal adapter
and the "Elite 2864I" (v2.09) ISDN modem. These new
firmware files are available on our FTP server in
following directories:
ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.at/public/omni/ta128/firmware/2.05/
ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.at/public/elite/e2864i/firmware/2.09/
Of course you can download the latest firmware files by
clicking on the hyperlinks on our Web homepage:
http://www.zyxel.co.at
addtional information which is not included in the
release notes:
ZyXEL R&D has implemented the support of some more
ISDN supplementary services in this new firmware now.
You will have to check with the technical persons
at your local ISDN Central Switching Office (please
call the "ISDN customer services" !) that for this
new feature phone functions the following ISDN
supplementary services are enabled by your PTT/telecom
  ISDN provider:
btw: the "Flash-7" in the release notes means that you
first have to press the "hook-flash" (or "R") button on
your phone and then press the number "7" button. The time
for the "hook-flash" can be adjusted in the S56 modem
  register: ATS56=10 means "hook-flash" for 100ms periode
            ATS56=50 means "hook-flash" for 500ms periode
                    (some 1 unit is 10ms)
Look into the manual of your phone set how long you will
have to set the hook-flash time - otherwise the ZyXEL ISDN
a/b-adaptor won't recognize if you press the flash button
  on your phone.

=================================================================
note 1) the firmware v6.18 for U-1496 modem series has already
been released by ZyXEL Taiwan a few weeks ago. Now it
could be found on our FTP server too. But because we
found that the new implemented "ATI32 command -
which is needed to generate unique Windows95 legacy
UNIMODEM codes (which will result in new INF files) -
does not work correctly, we decided not to announce
the v6.18 in a seperate eMail.
But if you want to work/experiment/understand the INF
files for Windows95 and WindowsNT4 yourself, please
download Microsoft's latest developer update of
the "Modem Development Kit" for Windows95/NT4.
Use following URL and view the README.TXT before
downloading the 2.2 MByte self-extracting file.
        ftp://ftp.microsoft.com/developr/drg/Modem/
(last updated on July 11, 1997)
note 2) Prestige's incremental release "1.3(x.08i)" was
just made available on the ftp site at
        ftp://ftp.zyxel.co.at/public/prestige/
Go into your models directory and select
        /firmware/increm/
But you can access also all these new files from
the homepage on our web site). Read the release
notes in the directory to get more information.
This TRUE incremental release includes the ICMP fix
(email and ftp failures), the call back fix, and
sets 31 characters (eg. for accessing T-Online PPP)
as the limit for outgoing user name and password.
As always incremental releases are not supported,
and if it creates a new problem that did not appear
in formal release v1.3, you should go back to v1.3.
The fixes in incremental releases will be included
in future firmware releases. Incremental releases
are not regression tested, so problems may occur.
---> Prestige firmware version v1.4 is coming soon....
