If your talking about the old Ektachrome, You need the deep red IR
filter to eliminate the daylight, It's color but the colors are not
the colors you see with they eye. Hot is red, cold is blue, etc.
Without the filter, UV exposes the film better than the IR so it
looks like a very contrasty color slide that, if shot in daylight,
allows for a bit of synthetic fabric penetration. It used to be
available from a place up by you, can't remember the name now, but it
was in Oregon. They sold a lot of military surplus. 35mm in 100 foot
rolls, sold among the bulk gun camera film.
