RT> If it were that simple, I would agree with you.
It has always been that simple. You don't like a
business you hit the street.
RT> There are VERY few smoke free restaurants. When there is
RT> one available, I will patronize it.
Doesn't this show you that most people aren't concerned
about smokers? After all if there was a huge chuck of
people out there who didn't want to be around smoke
there would be smoke free everything on every corner.
A smoke free place can't get enough business to survive
because there are so few people who care.
RT> The major problem is smokers who violate no-smoking
RT> policies. Who, but the government, is to protect me from
RT> them.
The restaurant management. Its up to them to enforce
their policies. If some one lights up in a smoke free
place you complain, if it is truly smoke free the
smoker will be asked to put it out or leave. If he
fails he will be TOLD to leave. If he doesn't the
police are called and he is arrested as a trespasser.
I have never done it with a smoker but I have done it
with several rowdy collage students in my day. Nothing
like a night in jail to get them to spread the word
that you better not go to that place and screw around.
I'm sure the same thing would work with smokers.
Having the government telling a business how to run its
business if called fascism. Once a government starts
telling businesses how to run they tend to start
telling people how to live their lives. You know
things like certain people are to wear arm bands and
live in certain areas, this book is good for you to
read but that one isn't, etc.
They that can give up essential liberty to
obtain a little temporary safety deserve
neither liberty nor safety.
