Do you use any that claim that they do? At one time I removed myself from the XP Administrators group to see if I could use my computer with reduced privileges. Of course, there were a couple of badly-behaved programs (like Quicken) that wanted to store their data files in their program directory, or an .ini file in the windows directory. Nevertheless, I went ahead and granted myself explicit rights to write to the directories or files these programs needed so that I could continue to run without administrator privileges. However, I found that I would no longer receive Windows Automatic Update notifications when I was not an administrator. Is there a way to allow myself to get these notifications when I am running without Administrative privileges? Ideally, it would download and notify me about updates, and then require that I log in as administrator to install the updates.
