It certainly did. The only thing better would have been for Bennie and
his girl to go to a movie right before the movie scene -- with the film
title visible on the marquee, such as Vampires of the Vacuum. Talk
about a *subtle* reference.
But I'll afraid that even *that* could become an issue in the copyright
litigation over the Republic Star Trek films of the 50s.
