Sometime ago,I had a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink. Occasionally ,it would jam from too much fibrous vegetables, or a staple from a carrot bag would get down there or a pice of metal.I would use a large Allen wrench on the bottom to work it loose and then cleared out the debris. One time, the line from the sink would plug and the water wouldn't go down.I took everything apart, cleaned out the garbage to the 2 " pipe to the down pipe and reassembled it.A week later, the same thing happened and I cleared it out again.Another week later, the same thing happened again. Now,I decided to see what was going on.I took the outside hose in thrugh a window, and with a dishpan to catch excess water,i used a hi velocity flow on the downpipe and up same a plastic baggie. The baggie got through the disposal and everytime,I a snake ,it would go through the tornup baggie. When food went by it,it would trap the food and cause a plug. The next time,I had trouble with the disposal,I took it out completely. It was more trouble than it was worth. Now,I use the plastic bags than came with my daily newspaper to discard the garbage.I would cut the bag about 8 " deep to make a flap. Then dump the container of garbage onto the bottom section of the opening, lower the flap, stand the bag up and wrap it for discarding. I learned something new about plumbing repairs. --- Maximus 3.01* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 379/1 10/345 106/1 2000 633/267 |
