Personally, I would be more interested in a candidates communication skills and
their ability to articulate the written word than their expertise in writing
code. General knowledge in FTN software operation would also be helpful. I
don't really see where a candidates willingness to help others setup their
"Chosen" software is that important in their being a FTSC member.
To me it would be more important and helpful to them and others just by being a
Sysop.
Being an FTN/BBS software author doesn't and/or a helpful certainly doesn't
hurt. But the real focus of a FTSC member IMHO is in clear and concise
documentation skills.
