I would never have believed anyone could be as callous as the general
public has become, if I hadn't had a very good friend go through a
similar situation.
He was driving to work at 4 am, on a rural road, when he fell asleep
at the wheel. He ended up hitting a guardrail and flipping his car
into a ditch.
He crawled out of the ditch with a broken back, and flagged down a
passing car.
The lady told him, "Why don't you walk to the next house and have them
call the ambulance?"
Luckily, the next car after her, was a little more sympathetic, and
they did call for help.
It took him almost a year, but he has recovered very well, and is
even back to work. You, almost, wouldn't even know that he had
broken his back.
