    You have to write your own disk I/O routines to load and execute
    your OS. The purpose of the bootsector is to load your OS.

    Absolutely, you can store files anyway you want. You'll end up
    destroying the existing files/file structure, but if your
    making your own OS you have to have a toy computer to crash.

    discuss current file systems and the pros/cons of each.
