MF> I'm thinking about replacing my inside wiring, what kind of wires

I take it you mean for your telephone system?
Personally, I don't think it matters a great deal. Any decent-
quality twisted-pair properly installed will work well.
Before everyone jumps up in arms: I have 50 feet of the cheapest
"telephone extension" cable (with RJ jacks on each end) that I could
find strung along the baseboard and occasionally played with by the
cats. I get 33.6 connections every time, all the time with my ISP,
and always better than 28.8 if the remote is capable of those speeds.
