FYI - I did some checking on this to see what happen with the Malicious software detection tool (MSDT). - MSDT that comes in via Windows Update only runs, then exits and doesn't "install" and endlessly grind your hard disk periodically. Mine took 10 seconds to run. - If you download and install MSDT manually, it won't come in via Windows Update.
