  Somewhere in the registry Windows NT and higher save the drive letter
assignments.  If the system drive letter is ever reassigned and saved to
the registry, you are hosed.   The How/why of the drive letter reassignment
is not known; if it was changed by plug and play detection or LSASS, then
why can't it recorrect itself?
