Well... It depends on how serious it is. I don't go rushing off to an
emergency room whenever I get a little splinter in my finger. I just
pull it out. If it bleeds at all, a Band-Aid fixes it.
I couldn't have gone anyplace when I stepped on that nail. The piece of
wood that held it was big and heavy, so I couldn't have walked with it
nailed to my foot. (Actually, I was wearing a pair of light sandals,
and no socks. The nail went right through the sole of the sandal, and
was visible on the top of the foot, where there was a gap in the
sandal. This whole episode took place in my parents' back yard. They
had been having some construction done, and there was some debris
around.) When I lifted the foot, the weight of the wood pulled the nail
out. Then I ran into the house.
