23 Sep 97 14:54, Puleeeeze Brer Chris Biltcliffe, Dooooon't trow 460 weight
in dat der Briar Patch!
 CB>> Try about 1200, +tranny, if they've got one.
 CB>
RW>> Gimme a break. We're not talking a tank diesel engine, just a Ford
 RW>> 460. 800lbs would be stretching it.
 CB>
CB> Well, my brother's got one in a 1 ton van, and he's also got the
CB> specs for the engine. I think they're straight from Ford, but I'm
CB> not positive. Supposed to be around 1200 lbs. I'm just quoting what
CB> I've been told by informed sources. Not exactly light, ya know? Why
                      ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^:)
CB> do you think they guzzle so much gas??! ;)
I'd be inclined to believe that if it included the transmission and all
accessories, including oil and water...
RW>> It takes gas to feed cubic inches. Engine weight hardly enters
 RW>> into it.
 CB>
CB> Well, the heavier the car, the more gas it uses.
Think so?
CB> I know displacement and wind resistance have a lot more to do with
CB> it, but weight still affects mileage.
I figure your brothers 1 ton van weighs 5800+lbs vs my 72 Chev pu which
weighs 4800lbs, empty. My 350 pulls 13.7lbs/cubic inch. Your 460 pulls
12.6lbs/cubic inch. Which one gets better milage?
... Innuendo: Italian suppository.
