-> I will probably get SHOT down here. I remember him well in 1967 when
-> he came to Beantown w/the St Louis Cardinals. Remember the World
-> Series . He was suppose to be an indepandant announcer and all he did
-> was to get the Red Sox FAN's UP SET. We in Boston
-> knew that the Cardinals were a better baseball team but the event
-> went to 7 games. The Cardinals won but it wasn't E Z E
I can say many great things about Harry Caray, but there is one thing I
cannot say: He was unbiased. Let's face it, he was pro-Cardinals when he was
with them (probably more than with any other team, since he is from St.
Louis), really don't know about the one year in Oakland, not sure about the
White Sox (though I know he despised Jerry Reinsdorf, as I think we all do),
but was probably biased toward the Sox, and DEFINATELY biased toward the
Cubs...
It's an unfortuntate reality to look at, especially since Harry is now gone,
but it is the truth. He definately had a tendency to kiss up to the team he
was announcing for... *sigh*
