I honestly don't believe writing any lines of code, whether it be for or not
for FTN software, makes one bit of difference to an FTSC candidate, or member
for that matter. The job of the FTSC is to document current practice. That is
all.

I would (and have) assist them in setting up whatever software they feel
comfortable using. It's not a competition. It's about getting new members
connected successfully, and giving them the chance to actually enjoy what
they're doing.
As for how many, I can not give an exact number. However I have many Fidonet
links here as well as run my own "othernet" with 80+ links. I have not and
never will run away from an opportunity to help another.

While the programming experiences are probably nice to have, the FTSC election
is definitely not about flexing your programming muscles. The FTSC election is
not about creating new FTN software, it is about working well with others to
document current practice.
Regards,
Nick
