CP>> Actually, he is'nt trying to say that the Eeterprise (NCC-1701) as part
CP>> of the TV show was named for the Space Shuttle. What he is getting at
CP>> is looking at it in the Trek Universe. The USS Enterprise,NCC-1701,
as
CP>> named for an old (our time) early Earth Spacecraft.
BN> However, since precognition doesn't work even in the Trek mythos,
BN> that's impossible, too. }:) It was just the traditionally naval
BN> Enterprise, not any sort of space craft that hadn't even been fully
BN> conceived yet, much less named.
However, in the mid-2200s, when the Starship Enterprise was built, the
people who named her were well aware that part of the tradition of the
name Enterprise was that it was the name of the first space shuttle.
TMP makes it canon that a space shuttle was named Enterprise.
