AA> Hehehehh. I've learned to ignore those. ;)

Yes, the response I got back in answer to my half-joking comment
showed that it would have been better if I had ignored it too.

AA> Meanwhile I tore apart an old 486 that I wanted to re-install with W95
AA> anyway. Turns out that my mystery sportser was a 14.4.

A bit slow by today's standards, but what's wrong with that?

I'm stuck with 19.2 on my antique 486 although the modem I use is
capable of 28.8.

OTOH if it's a large download, I use the time to make a cup of
coffee, so it doesn't bother me a lot.

AA> As for your I? commands.. I think some modem manufactures use
AA> different I? codes for different functions. For example, the I3

Yes that's right. And some of the codes are different on various
models from the same manufacturer, although that seems to defy
all reason.

For example the codes for turning on/off the data compression
with the Hayes Accura 566 return ERROR when I give them to my
Accura 288.

If anyone could give me the correct AT command set for the
Hayes Accura 288 (V.34/V.FC + FAX) I would be most grateful.
