I don't know, Jackson.  I'm not quite sure **WHY** the Dems and the
Repubs make such a big deal about their platforms.  As far as I can see,
neither Presidential Candidate feels obligated to enact or support the
party platform once he's elected.

Actually, the silent majority shtick was part of his successful 68
campaign, not the 60 campaign.
