CH> Afro-Americans are said to DETEST Cosby saying he 'acts white'.

CH> Exactly!!!! Thank you! I want to hug you and kiss you because I

There was a time (perhaps still is) when it was 'popular' to Cosby bash, if
one ¨was black? He's been very outspoken that many of the problems some
face, are ¨self inflicted due to lifestyle. Not all mind you, but some
portion of it. ¨He's been outspoken on the higher numbers of unwed mothers
or those who's male ¨partners just 'leave' and provide no parenting. Now
this happens in all racial ¨groups, but he addresses it as based on
percentages then cross relates it to ¨the tendancy for the single mother to
be less able to help with school work in ¨the early years giving the child
a lower starting point educationally. I dont ¨know if he's right, but it
sounded like he wasnt totally wrong either.
It upset some Black Americans see it put in such bald terms. 'If you want
to ¨get ahead, you have to change your ways to ones of success'.
CH> Cosby are just jealous and taking a sitcomw ay too seriously.
CH> My opponent also said 'gee how many career people spend that much time
CH> with their kids. I replied .. well 1/2 hour once a week at least!
CH> I ticked him off I guess.
Probably! . In the sitcom, he's only home at night and
weekends, from ¨what I remember. The only thing I dont recall, is if he
had to leave a few ¨times for emergency calls (dont recall what kind of Doc
he was, if a ¨dermotologist for example, he wouldnt have that kind of
call). I did watch the ¨show fairly often, but as a sitcom, not that much
sunk in all these years later ¨on that aspect. (It's not on reruns here
either in Japan).
CH> It would be nice if you could.. but I would not doubt he might. You
CH> do know his own son was murdered in drive by shooting a year or two
CH> ago.
I remember hearing about that and wondering... Maureen's child would now
be I ¨think, pretty close to 18 or a bit more. Very decent well behaved
young man, ¨but I worried that she was a bit too strict with him. Maureen
was a single ¨parent but other than being a bit 'protective', seemed to do
well by her son.
