I'm having this problem with my ISP constantly. I've also upgraded
to the NEW BETA firm ware and the problem STILL persists. I'm quite
frustrated by it all also.
My theory behind this problem is that the modem seems to lock up,
and drop carrier (or just freeze up) when I start to download off the
Internet. Be it a web page, or an FTP, at a certain point it crashes.
Some times it's slow, and the computer just kina hangs for a moment
before the modem drops carrier, or it just drops carrier with no warning.
But it's EVERY TIME I start downloading off of my ISP, this happens (BTW
my ISPs also use Supras, some of them have the new 33.6 flasher)
My feeling is that I'm getting data over-flow with the modem. Also
the flasher came with a new comm.drv driver for windows (I use widows 95,
so I dunno if it's meant for 95, or 3.1x), and I really don't have a big
of a problem with using DOS terminal software, but I do get a lot of bad
packets on Zmodem uploads.
