Hello Henri...

LL>> Since individuals outside of Zone 1 can become full-fledged

 HD> That's not true.
HD> When I became a fully fledged FidoNet SysOp I had to abide P4 and EP1.
HD> I was strongly told to be online always during ZMH,

HD> So I configured my system that way.
HD> Even my SysOp Point 1 do not get its bulk EchoMail when polling at ZMH.
HD> ZMH is there only for receiving crash Net mails, and nothing else.
HD> Everyone has 23 other hours to log in as a BBS user or get his Point
 HD> EchoMail bundles.

I understand that... Lee doesn't.

LL>> then why is it that individuals residing within Zone 1 cannot
 LL>> do the same?

HD> The problem in Z1 is that even if someone does his configuration

HD> There is no minimal time restriction for getting a Node number.
HD> I.e. it does not matter if it is for one or four months or even one
 HD> week.

Why didn't he ask for a point then? I'm not familiar with the circumstance.

BM> Did you forget EP1? I knew you would...

HD> Did Lee even tried to get a Z1 Node number?
HD> And if so, why was it not granted?

Again, not sure of the answer on that. As per his remarks and constant
bickerings, it seems he's not really interested in having a system online for
at least ZMH so the point is moot.

 BM> Enjoy!
 BM> Ward, give him a node #... :)

HD> Is that a good idea?

HD> If a European person moved to the USA does not get a Node number,
HD> the other way round can also be a question.
HD> At the time of POTS a locality can be valid, because of telco costs,
HD> but at the moment with IP it does not matter any more.

Well, my irony was missed. Lee seems to have a 'close relationship' with Ward
and just as you stated, why would Ward follow in the same footsteps as the
circumstance you've discussed? Wouldn't that justify the Z1 decision?

HD> So everybody should get a Node number from any Zone (s)he wants.

I don't have issue with that as long as the *C structure can handle it.

HD> Here we have an EchoMail Area for both sysop's and Points.
HD> That works ok for all participants.
HD> Sysop's are not better folks than Points or BBS-users.
HD> Every participant is worth to keep in this small FidoNet.
 HD> Indeed enjoy.

I have no issue with that as well, all should enjoy it, including Lee. Just
because there are echos not available to him for specific reasons is not
censoring his freedom of speech in any other echo. As I said to him, if he
feels he's being censored, then please, share his banking information with me
and I'll petition the powers to be. If not, then he's censoring my freedoms as
well. Slippery slope isn't it.

HD> Many people write messages without greetings anymore, why is that?
HD> Not even a blank line and a senders name is written, lazy writers I
 HD> think.

So does that make the message any less important? I normally use the 'From:'
line to know who I'm replying to but I'll make sure there's a Hi Henri up top
for you.

 HD> Good luck,

Same to you.
