I think I've had as many failures from shrinkwrapped stuff bought in a rush
at chain stores as I have from Ebay cables and other cheapies.  Worst is
solid-conductor plenum cable.  That stuff tends to break if handled three
times.  I've given up, and punch plenum down to a block and never touch it
again.
