 Funny you should ask.

 Anakin was a slave when first encountered. Two Jedi knights, who
 had the commanders of a major fighting force quivering in fear
 of sudden death, instead of freeing him, gamble for his freedom.

 Then they take him off leaving his mother behind in slavery.
 They raise him in such a way as to make rescuing his mother from
 Sand People a violation of their principles.

 Any man who won't rescue his mother from slavery or from
 torturous death at the hands of the sand people is a man who
 cannot be trusted with the fate of the galaxy.

 Not ending slavery, which they clearly had the power to do, is
 such a vile corruption, that any organization that gives in to
 it is already corrupted, no matter how noble it may seem on the
 outside.

 The Jedi deserved to be wiped out.
