Mulling over George Pope to STEVE ASHER 11 Jul 2004 Hi George... SA> Imagine a world where the government knows how and where you travel, SA> what your spending habits are, your medical history and your daily SA> habits. SA> Then imagine all this information and more can also be accessed by SA> corrupt officials, staff from the private company handling the SA> technology and, in extreme cases, criminals. GP> Oh, like in the U.S. & Canada? That's it. In the USA and Canada, it is the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) which is pushing for secure drivers licences to be used for ID, among other things apart from driving vehicles. Seisint (see previous reply) just happens to be a member of AAMVA ( http://www2.seisint.com/aboutus/membership.html ) From the post a few days ago about the common North American ID card proposal that AAMVA is working on, it can be expected that members like Seisint would seek to put all of that licence data into the MATRIX, on the pretext of rooting out terrorists and other "evil doers".
