I believe that many of my son's social problems stem from his behavior when
he is not on his medications, or rather that if he had been put on medication
earlier he would have formed better patterns of social interaction. Many of
the same behaviors that interfere with his school work also interfere with
his conversation style and "works and plays well with others" skills. This
became more apparent as he got older, because the other kids his aged moved
on to more mature ways of interacting.
At the age of 15, he gets along much better with 8 year olds than with his
peers.
It isn't clear what the advantage is of going without the medication.
Just a thought.
