Depends on whether stuff is cleaned out upfront. Completely natural childbirth should be healthy for the child, but more strenous for the mother. And, of course, any complications can quickly become very serious, at least if it is done in the home, where no-one is around to perform an emergency C-section and deal with bleedings. Many mothers want to try natural child birth the first time around. Most do not want to do so a second time, even if there are no complications. Having the drugs available, as well as a competent midwife, is advisable.
