JPH> As per the ST Encyclopedia, The Enterprise-D's maximum speed is warp
JPH> 9.6, which equals 1909c. She can keep that up for 12 hours.
JPH> The next question is "then what?" How long does the Enterprise have to
JPH> shut down for? To what degree? Does she have to perform any repairs?
JPH> Does this damage the engines?
At they very least, they need to cool things down. Otherwise, they
haven't really said, that I recall.
JPH> The Voyager (Darn them) supposedly was able to maintain a warp 9.975
JPH> cruising speed. This annoys me.
Well, that's according to the specs. They have made it big thing over
the last couple of years as to what poor technical condition the ship is
in. I doubt they could make this speed for long.
JPH> Warp 9.9 supposedly equals 3,053c.
JPH> According to my calculations (Admittedly rough) 3,285c roughly equals 9
JPH> light years per day.
JPH> That's a nine fold increase in speed. That is also hard to deal with.
Nine? From 1906 to 3285 times the speed of light would be less than
double the maximum rated speed.
