DG>HOME BUSINESS REPORT
DG>BUSINESS STARTUP 2
DG>By Michelle J. Bloom
[...]
DG>There are some legal considerations that we all need to be aware
DG>of. One example is Zoning Regulation, if you are planning to be
DG>a homebased business, short term or long. You can call your
DG>local municipality for guidance on this issue.
And NEVER give them your real name and number when making an
inquiry.
While they may have "rules," a fast trip to the law library may be
in order to see if those regulations are, indeed, binding.
DG>Another legal consideration is your contract; this is your
DG>agreement with the client as to the work you will be doing, the
DG>amount of payment, and when the work will be accomplished.
DG>Depending on the type of work you do, you may want a lawyer to
DG>take a look at your contract or at least find your industry
DG>standard contract and adapt yours to suit it.
No only have your atty. check it carefully (or have him/her draw
one up for you) but also be aware of the statute of frauds which
mandates a written contract in many instances. Failure to do so may
well leave you holding the bag.
