ATTENTION ALL THOSE THAT ARE TIRED OF ADOPTEES BEING TOLD THAT WE DON"T HAVE
A RIGHT TO KNOW - THIS IS YOUR CHANCE TO BE HEARD! This coming September the
Adoption Law Reform Committee (ALRC) will finally be holding an open hearing
in both Tulsa and Oklahoma City giving the members of the Triad (and any
other Tom, Dicks and Harrys) a chance to be heard. I am busy rounding up
both adoptees and birthparents that are willing to speak and come forth with
the issues at this meeting. IT IS IMPERATIVE that we show in force. Even if
you are NOT going to speak, show up. The numbers are what impress this
board, not always what we say. The ALRC is currently not going to open any
records for adoptees and they are even wanting to make it harder for judges
to unseal records for medical needs. They may make it to where you can only
obtain information if you are Native American and the tribal council requests
the information. However, (here is the catch 22 - the Bermuda Triangle) the
tribal council does not feel they should have to be the ones that request the
info, they feel the adoptee should request it from the judge. I have spoken
with both Winslow and Hubbard and they want the tribes to request it. I am
meeting with the Cherokee Tribe to see what we can do. But back to the
hearing - anyone that is interested in speaking to plead their own personal
case or plead in general, please contact me at 102353.1006@compuserve.com or
918-745-1876. ASAP - I am busy working on this night and day!
