JMS said at Comic-Con that his part was originally only going to be about 10
seconds and he was fine with that.  Apparantly Branagh decided he could act and
added lines and other scenes.  JMS didn't know how much would make it into the
final cut, though.

In the comic, lots of people tried to take up the hammer but weren't able to
until a certain person came along. From the sound of things, JMS did an outline
and they seem to have kept that part of it, at least.
