There have been a lot of articles written about the theory that there were
two moons, but nothing published by NASA as yet.

On Sept. 8th, 2011, NASA's GRAIL mission was launched to probe the
probability of a missing Moon.  The GRAIL's deputy principal investigator
at MIT, is David Smith.  Would you like me to reprint the article?
