NP> I'm not arguing with you

You do an excellent imitation of an argument.

NP> , just quoting from the Greek text that the AV was translated
 NP> from.

Quoting from the Greek! And you reckon that's not an arument?!

 > as if one word changes the reality of Jesus as God.

NP> You appear to feel strongly on this point. Is it a problem ? NB
NP> I ain't sayin he is or he aint :-)

It's not a problem to me. I am a stage-2 atheist. There is no god
nor ever was. Jesus could not be something that does not exist this
side of the Big Bang. I am open-minded about the other side of the Big
Bang .

It annoys me when dickheads write books claiming to "prove" that
Jesus was Che uavera, or a Martian, or married Mary Magdalene and
went to Las Vegas, or is working at the local Coles with Elvis... when
none of these things, even if true, say one word about the only thing
of any importance about Jesus: his alleged divinity. If he *was* god,
then he can do *anything* be bloody-well likes. If he was not god,
then he was just another nice guy who finished last.

The whole thing is silly. Christianity is ridiculous.

 > To misquote the Gospels in order to show Jesus encouraging armed

NP> Yeah. He certainly preached the "turn the other cheek" idea
NP> which is something I have problms with given certain
 NP> situations.

And he went to the cross quietly, which has to say the final word on
Jesus as a rebel.

As for the Jesus-philosophy, I find that even sillier. Turning the
other cheek simply does not work. The meek will never inherit the
Earth. Peacemakers are not blessed... look at Rabin and poor old
Warren Christopher: one's dead and the other looks like something
out of a second-hand coffin. The whole thing is mad. Jesus was crazy,
but nice-crazy. St Paul on the other hand was a good Jewish businessman
who recognised an opportunity when he saw one.

Bob
