CR> I agree fully! Me being a sysop I know what it is like for users
CR> to go internet. I love parrots (so the name of my BBS : The
CR> Bird-Brained BBS)
I'm also a sysop. Our board specializes in pets and hobbies, among other
things.
Back on topic , Cricket, my lovebird, seems to have come around a bit.
I stopped handling her about a month ago because she had become extremely
aggressive and would bite me *very* hard. Lovebirds have very sharp beeks,
and she drew blood once. So I got fed-up with her behaviour, and refused to
take her out. That was the reason I wanted to get her a friend. Well, I
noticed her always rushing to the side of the cage whenever I changed her
food/water, so decided to try to pet her through the bars. This usually
resulted in her lunging at me and trying to bite. This time, she just sat
there, and let me scratch her head. So I started doing this more and more,
and then let her out. To my amazement, she just climbed right up on my
shoulder, and started preening me! I've been letting her out more often now,
playing with her, giving her more attention. She still bites, but when she
does, or starts getting too aggressive, I just put her back in the cage.
I am very happy with her change. I guess being a flock bird, she finally
understood that she couldn't live by herself, and started craving attention
from me again. I hope she will keep proggressing this way. I enjoy her
company very much, and love her dearly. I didn't want her becoming just
another peice of furniture around here.
