::: Section 1  ...  Introduction

    This "no-code" FAQ was prompted by an effort by Dave Shea to
    start a FAQ for the QUIK_BAS FidoNet echo. When he realized
    that the FAQ was going to be too large to include general QB
    and code-related questions, it was suggested that the FAQ be
    separated based on whether or not the question was code-related.
    Those questions which were code-related were included into his
    Code FAQ, a.k.a. QBFrag, and those which were not code-related
    were submitted into the No-Code FAQ.

    And with that, we begin the No-Code FAQ...

::: Section 2  ...  PostIt!

    PostIt! is the only authorized encoding scheme allowed in the
    QUIK_BAS echo for transfer of binary files (.OBJ files,
    BSAVEd files). PostIt! can only be used on source code IF
    AND ONLY IF the line length of the code exceeds 72
    characters, in which case the filter (POSTIT F filename) mode
    should be used. If a PostIt!-encoded file exceeds five
    pages, you must obtain the moderator's permission before you
    post the file to the echo.

    PostIt! converts an 8-bit binary file, which is not safely
    transferrable through FidoNet, to a 7-bit ASCII script, which
    can be safely transferred through FidoNet. To extract the
    original file, the script should be extracted from the
    message it was transferred in, i.e. removing all message
    headers, taglines, origin lines, etc., loaded into QBasic,
    QB4.x, PDS, or Visual Basic for DOS, and run. As the script
    is being run, it will display a status bar showing its
    progress, and if everything goes as planned, a fancy graphic
    will be displayed congratulating you on your success. :)

    Note: In the case that the script is transferred via
           multiple messages, just merge the separate sections
           sequentially into one file, then go through all the
           steps above.

    Currently, "nobody" is our "Official PostIt! Poster" and
    will post PostIt! at the beginning of each month. This will
    reduce traffic caused by multiple postings of PostIt! and make
    it available on a consistent basis.

::: Section 3  ...  General BASIC Questions

     Note: GW-Basic, BASIC, and BASICA will be referred to as
            GW-Basic, unless otherwise specified.

     1. I loaded an old GW-Basic program into QBasic or QB, but
         all I saw was high ASCII characters. How can I edit my
         old program?

         The source code has been saved in GW-Basic's format and
         will have to be converted over to straight ASCII in
         order to be usable by QBasic or QB.

         To convert the program to straight ASCII, load the
         program into GW-Basic, then type:
