It is more than that!
In a regular bridgeable amp the speaker-output is the hot-pin, the
other pin is connected to ground (internal).

There's something else to mention cause we're not talking about
hifi-amps here: the amp's input is symmetrical which means that you
have a positive and a negative input in your XLR-jack (plus ground).
In some cases it might be ok to just cross these pins (normally 2 & 3)
to get the inverted phase for the bridged mode if your amp does not
support this.
