On the one hand, I generally feel the same way about it because the
plot was rather time-twisted, and not necessarily in a good way.
HOWEVER, I accept it because something like that was necessary.  This
is not the same situation that Ron Moore had with BSG, which only went
one season 30 years ago.

When dealing with something with the rabid^Wloyal following that Trek
has, any reboot is going to generate heat from the vocal purists.  By
rebooting via a time trip that does not get reset, Abrams/Orci has, as
Joe said, cleared the slate to start anew while honoring the original
timeline.

I'm sure that JMS would have done it better, but I can live with what
was done and move forward with what Abrams &co have next and then
decide if I like the changes or not.
