Asian poultry is largely raised outdoors.

I think China accounts for 16 billion chickens annually IIRC.

I'm more concerned about global warming, the U.S. obtaining third world
economic status and the loss of civil liberties.

N.Y. Times stated this morning that China's economic growth last year
was 9.9 percent conservatively!!!
Using adjusted values for their undervalued currency only
the U.S. and Japan's GNP outdid them.

Unadjusted Germany beat them too.

Avian flu doesn't scare me, either it kills me or it doesn't _if_
it mutates to human to human transmission.
                              
Even at 1918 flu epidemic rates any single persons morbidity
expectation at one in a hundred or so.  

What it will do to commerce, the economy and the U.S. food and utility
infrastructure is far scarier should it come to pass.
