Hi Bob,
BM-> I think it is not so much a question of necessity, in the sense that
BM-> text books, paper, pencils are necessary, as it is a question of
BM-> enhancing direct instruction. One computer in a classroom offers
BM-> or allows very little or no time for individual student use. What it
It's neat how some lower grade (read first grade) teachers I know use a
computer as a learning center among other noncomputer learning centers.
Of course with more than one computer they could have more than one
station used in that way. There is quite a bit of good software that
works well with this approach. Aside from the reading and math focus of
the center these children are also learning a bunch of computer related
stuff, like using the arrow keys, mouse, enter key, ect.
Peace
Bob
