It was excellent, although I think I'll have to watch it a
couple more times to try to put it all together - not entirely

Webster's Collegiate puts that use of "cool" at 1951 - I believe
the usage came out of jazz slang rather than air conditioning.
As for the fridge, the newsboy refers to FROM HERE TO ETERNITY
(1953) as a film that everyone has seen. Too expensive, okay,
but it doesn't seem to be from the wrong time.
The Galaxy office didn't seem likely with a regular staff of
writers, and the pulping of a printed issue seemed like
financial suicide for the publisher. But I'm not sure how
accurate this aspect was supposed to be.
