   It depends on available developer resources, target installation, and
application goals.  A good reason to go with .Net is reduced development
time due to a large library.  A good reason to avoid .Net is for the
reasons you mentioned - smaller runtime memory usage, often faster speed,
compatibility with older platforms (W98, etc).
