I use a Glidecam 1000 Pro, and like it very much. It supports camera weights 
up to 6 lbs, which should handle your L-1 as long as you don't use a monster 
battery. The Glidecam people will tell you if your L-1 will fit without an 
adaptor. The Glidecam has no monitor (though it has the mount for one) but it 
is tons cheaper than a Steadicam. Check it out.
