subject: The Constitution

TR> There is nothing Unconstitutional about this concept.
SK> Of course the Constitution is a "living document". One that has been
SK> perverted. I'm speaking about what _I_ believe...not what you and the
 SK> perverters of it believe.
I think that you might want to try to read the Constitution some time, you
might get an eye-opening experience. Which portion of the Constitution do you
accuse me of perverting? You've already indicated you would pick and choose
the portions of law that you would obey. Would you wish to do the same thing
with the Constitution?
SK> Well, I don't believe in the draft. Myself, I would rather not fight
SK> along side someone that doesn't wish to fight.
So, now you are saying that the government can draft you, but only for the
causes you personally agree with. How much explanation would they need to
give before you would obey a perfectly legal and Constitutional concept. Is
it just the portions of the Constitution that you don't like that you claim
are perverted, or do you claim the entire document to be perverted? Again,
you really need to read it.
SK> You surely don't think much of people. I do. I also think that FREE
SK> people are more apt to be responsive to the idea of defending their
SK> freedom than slaves would be. For slaves would only be fighting and
SK> dying to defend their masters.
It would be just the opposite. History is also a very interesting subject
which tends to explain a lot about freedom and how it was won. Let's take for
example our War of Independence which separated us from the slavery of
England. Most would think that he Colonial Armies were all volunteers for
such a noble cause, but that would not be the truth. Huge numbers of them
were conscripts, DRAFTED. I think that it is Rich Willbanks who has a tagline
of "Freedom isn't free", and that is true. Many people have to fight for
freedom, and then there are others who always let someone else do the
fighting for them and enjoy the benefits. Many of those same people sit back
and complain about the final outcome and contributed nothing.
SK> The Constitution isn't a very difficult document...the Bill of Rights
SK> isn't either. Actually, they are "self evident". It's pretty damned
SK> easy to see when they are not being followed.
You really ought to read them at some point, but you've already stated that
you would only obey or act upon the portions you agree with, so they really
wouldn't be very sacred to you.
SK> Giving away our freedoms and then using silly hypotheticals as reasons
There is certainly nothing silly about the aftermath of a tornado. There is
also nothing silly about needed shelter, equipment, supplies, and etc. to
treat the wounded, save as many lives as possible, and be a human being. This
is the only example I gave, so I guess you think this is silly. Those who
have been there, done that, and have the t-shirt find nothing silly about a
tornado and its aftermath. We're certainly not talking about a rare event.
Many have died very recently and hundreds have been critically injured in
just the last month. I doubt that many of them see anything funny about a
tornado. At the very least, a tornado is an absolute nightmare for law
enforcement, fire departments, utility services, volunteer organizations, and
just about every citizen in the entire area.
