Tim!!!!!!!!! You scared the hell out of me! I thought that I was the only
person in the whole world who could see that AA is now a cult. I thought you
were reading my mind or something - I was looking for the conference approved
police to excommunicate me.
Since the beginning of time, a spiritual (meaning spirited as opposed to
downtrodden) movement rises, people in general start having a good time,
feeling good about themselve, quit self-destructive behaviors. and Horror of
horros start banding together and enjoying life in spite of the powerful. As
soon as this gets well under way, there develops a heirarchy of insiders to
whom the newcomers must go for direction - don't read the book, go to your
sponsor (priest)to translate it for you. Then, somebody sees where some
money can be made with this and a priestly class develops.......sorry, I
didn't mean to get into the history of church movements here but, we were
warned....... in Alcoholics Anonymous Cult or Cure, it says that when the
coffee pot that Lois used in early AA became an icon, we'd be well on the way
to becoming a religion and confusing form with Force. Well?????/
I got a letter once from GSO asking for more donations from the group
so that the case for Lois's coffee pot could be built in "the lovely archives
room' at GSO ......... Let's take AA back into the hands of alcoholics who
need to recover before the priestly class makes it a cult then a religion.
